Meet Chris
Voice Teacher and Vocologist
Hello there! I'm Chris Marston and I am a vocalist and voice teacher now based in San Diego, California. I have been teaching voice since before finishing my studies at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California where I received a Bachelor of the Arts in Vocal Performance and Sound Design. Since completing my degree, I formed a band and expanded it into a music and multi-media collective called Car Pool Music.

Car Pool Collective helped me become a better vocalist and community builder, and allowed me to establish myself as a voice teacher for professional singers and musicians. Before moving to San Diego I had already taught over 80 students and worked with over 300 musicians both on stage and off. I share my experiences and knowledge with my students to help them reach their personal goals and show them how diverse their options truly are. There are countless ways to use our voices in our lives, and I love helping people find and create their own paths forward with theirs. Let's see where yours takes you together!

Healthy Voice,
Healthy Noise
As a vocalist and a teacher, I have studied and applied technical knowledge in a variety of vocal arts and skills. I've utilized these skills in performances, ranging from belting, crying, distortion, compression, whistle tone, classical, theatrical, voice acting, and Alexander techniques. A healthy voice can change your view of yourself and what you are capable of, and open up new opportunities.

I believe that understanding healthy vocal practices and approaches to phonation can help everyone, whether they are singers, actors, public speakers, or community members. Vocal health improvement doesn't apply to just physical health, but emotional health as well. Using your voice is an instinct that has to be trained and flexed, and the more you understand your voice the better you will understand yourself.

We speak to express our thoughts.
We sing to express our souls.
